FullSizeRender (13) Ms. Courtney Shultz feels privileged to serve as the faculty advisor for The Knightly News. She enjoys working with the enthusiastic and talented student journalists at Hume-Fogg and hopes to lead the staff to continued success. Outside of school, she enjoys reading at local coffee shops, taking her dog to the dog park, and exploring Nashville’s diverse music scene.

Wesley Smith is returning to The Knightly News staff as the Editor-in-Chief this year. He joined the staff to bring interesting and informative stories to the Hume-Fogg community. Wesley is a swim coach at West Meade, a member of Stop Take Notice, and the captain of the swim team. On weekends, you can find Wesley at local Justice for Harambe meetings.

Tasfia Chowdhury is the News editor of The Knightly News. She joined because of her love for Hume-Fogg and hopes to use the newspaper as a means of informing and engaging its student body for a more united community. Tasfia participates in Mock Trial, Model United Nations, Youth in Government, and Stop! Take Notice. Her hobbies are Netflix and baking. She hopes that people use The Knightly News as a way to learn about, and engage with new people.

Hyunmin (Hummus) Kim is the Features editor this year at The Knightly News. He joined The Knightly News to engage, equip, and empower the students, and he enjoys meeting new people. Hummus’s goals this year are to broaden types of features articles published in The Knightly News, increase the paper’s media presence, and getting first at state. Hummus serves as the VP at Model UN and plays a mean “Hot Crossed Buns” on the recorder.

Rachel Kwak is the DPS editor of HFA’s The Knightly News and a senior at Hume-Fogg. Rachel Kwak joined The Knightly News staff in hopes of learning more about the school and student body outside of the academic world of Hume-Fogg. Rachel Kwak participates in Mock Trial, Model UN, and Sinas Jazz. You will most likely find Rachel in class because Hume-Fogg is a high school.

Cameron White is a senior and the Op-Ed editor of The Knightly News. He hopes to improve as a writer and journalist in final year on the staff. In his free time you can find him giving elderly women a run for their money on Bingo Night at the old folks’ home. He also laughs through scary movies and enjoys making others laugh as well.

Jessica Velasco is a senior who is excited to return to The Knightly News as this year’s Arts and Entertainment and Sports editor. Jessica joined The Knightly News to write all the goods on the paper. Jessica aspires to grow as a writer throughout her final year at Hume-Fogg. In her free time, you can find her not doing homework because of senioritis and making guac.

Mr. Seth Taylor is extremely excited to be back with The Knightly News. He is both online editor and a staff writer. He is a member of the HFA concert choir and plays football, baseball, and bowling. You can find him jamming to music on the weekends.

Bushra Ackbar is a staff writer. She joined this year to become connected to the school. Bushra participates in many extracurricular activities, including Mock Trial and Model United Nations.

Isa D. Bitner is a staff writer for The Knightly News. As a sophomore and first-time member of the paper, she is excited to learn how to relate current events to the people by setting pen to paper.She hopes that this year will be a rich and memorable experience.

Lauren Chase, staff writer, is a new member of The Knightly News. She looks forward to interviewing the members of HFA and hopes to write some bomb articles. In her free time, she volunteers at the Humane Association- partly because she’s a good person but mainly because she loves puppies.

Rida Khan is a Knightly News staff writer. Her goals are to write one good article for the newspaper. Rida also debates for Hume-Fogg and kicks butt after school. She is also a major foodie. GO FOOD!

Sienna Magallan, staff writer, is excited to be a member of The Knightly News this year. She hopes to become a better writer and learn more about journalism through the course. She spends her free time getting paid to teach kids how to swim at the YMCA. She hates the kids but loves the money.

Grant Miller, staff writer, joined The Knightly News to get experience in writing and to meet new people. Grant enjoys the interaction between the staff and student body. His goals are to always produce quality content on time. Grant rows for Nashville Junior’s Rowing after school before and after school, during weekends, breaks, and any free time he has. Fiona Murphey, staff writer, is a cornet player in a HFA’s Silver Jazz Band and participates in SSMV. She is a Star Wars enthusiast, student, and politics junky. She was drawn to The Knightly News by a fascination with the relationship between politics and news media and hopes to bring national news into Hume-Fogg in the unique context of its diverse student body.  Fiona’s idea of a perfect Saturday night includes pizza, PS4 space games, and alternating marathons of Star Trek and The West Wing. She may appear to be glued to her NPR in the hallways, but trust her, she loves talking politics even more than hearing about it.
